Drill Operator / Team Lead

Overview

Installed Energy is hiring a hands-on Drill Operator/Team Lead to help lead geothermal ground loop installations. If you're experienced with drilling, trenching, piping––and take pride in doing things the right way––this is a role where you can grow fast and make an impact.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare job sites, including dirt work and general site cleanup

  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment

  • Installer exterior and interior geothermal piping systems

  • Operate drill rig and heavy equipment for trenching, drilling, backfilling, and compaction

  • Perform piping connections and heat fusion fittings

  • Ensure all work meets quality standards using job checklists and documentation

  • Troubleshoot field issues and recommend practical solutions

  • Flush and purge loop fields using a flush cart to ensure proper system performance

  • Maintain and clean vehicles, drill drigs, and equipment

  • Follow project plans and direction from supervisors

  • Collaborate with other trades on-site to keep projects moving efficiently 

  • Lead by example, support, and direct crew, prioritizing productivity and safety

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in drilling, trenching, or similar groundwork

  • Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery

  • CDL preferred

  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and plan sets

  • Strong communication and teamworks skills

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt in the field

  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing demanding outdoor work

  • Heat fusion experience is a plus

  • A team player attitude – we're willing to train the right person as long as they are solutions-oriented and eager to learn a new trade 

 

Schedule & Pay

  • Typical hours: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (30-minute lunch)

  • $30.00 - $45.00 per hour

  • Prevailing wage possibilities

  • Expected hours: 30 - 45 per week (not guaranteed)

  • Overtime available as needed (time-and-a-half pay)

  • Hourly position
